DoD FOIA/PA Compliance Workshop is a three-day course (7-9 April 2020) offered by the DoD Freedom of Information Office at the Mark Center in Alexandria, Virginia. The course presents information on FOIA/PA statutes, policies, guidance and available resources. Topics to be covered include FOIA exemption, litigation concerns, best practices, Privacy Act breaches, and use of technology. Please review the full announcement for course registration information and for instructions on application for centralized funding. You must self-register to attend the training to secure your seat, application through CP-56 is for funding only. Registration for this course is open online. Deadline for funding application is 7 December 2019.
Freedom of Information Act for Attorneys and Access Professionals is a two-day workshop (7-8 April 2020) hosted by the Department of Justice that provides lectures and workshops for a comprehensive overview of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) including: procedural requirements and exemptions; principles for processing FOIA requests from start to finish; proactive disclosure requirements; and the interface between FOIA and the Privacy Act. Deadline for application is 7 December 2019.
Civilian Paraprofessionals
Admin Law for Military Organizations is a four-day course (28-31 January 2020) offered at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School in Charlottesville, VA. The course presents an overview and new developments in administrative and civil law matters. Topics cover administrative investigations, personnel law, federal litigation, military-related First Amendment issues, federal labor-management relations, MWR activities, standards of conduct, wounded warrior and veterans’ law, and environmental law. Deadline for application is 11 December 2019.
