Announcement of the Confirmation of Colonel Christopher A. Kennebeck to Brigadier General
I am pleased to officially announce, pursuant to his nomination by the President, that the United States Senate has confirmed Colonel Christopher A. Kennebeck for promotion to Brigadier General, after which he will assume the duties of Lead Special Trial Counsel.
Colonel Kennebeck has contributed 31 years of dedicated service to our Army and our Nation. He has excelled as a lawyer and a leader in challenging and diverse assignments throughout our Regiment. Serving in two of the most senior military justice billets in our Corps, COL Kennebeck was both the Chair of the Criminal Department at The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School and the Chief of Criminal Law in the Office of The Judge Advocate General (OTJAG). He has served as a Staff Judge Advocate at both 2d Infantry Division in Korea and I Corps at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. His previous assignments include Chief of Policy, Criminal Law Division, OTJAG, Pentagon; Deputy Staff Judge Advocate, I Corps, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington; Senior Defense Counsel, Bagram, Afghanistan; Chief of Military Justice, 7th Joint Multinational Training Command, Grafenwoehr, Germany; Instructor/Writer, U.S. Army Military Police School, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; Observer/Controller, Fort Irwin, California; and Trial Counsel, Special Assistant United States Attorney, and Legal Assistance Attorney, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas. Colonel Kennebeck also served for almost six years as an enlisted armor crewman on M60 and M1A1 tanks stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington and Mannheim Germany.
Colonel Kennebeck received a Bachelor of Science in English from the University of South Dakota, a Master of Science from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, a Master of Science in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College, a Juris Doctor from the University of South Dakota School of Law, and a Master of Laws in Military Law from The Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School. He was commissioned in 1995 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps and granted an educational delay for law school.
