Announcement of the Confirmation
of Colonel Ronald D. Sullivan to Brigadier General


I am pleased to announce that the President has nominated and the United States Senate has confirmed Colonel Ronald D. Sullivan for appointment to the grade of Brigadier General.
 
Colonel Sullivan’s commendable career, spanning over 28 years, evidences his superb skills as a Judge Advocate and Army officer. In his previous assignments, COL Sullivan served as Deputy Commanding Officer (East) of the U.S. Army Reserve Legal Command (USARLC), Gaithersburg, MD; Commander of the 87th Legal Operations Detachment (LOD), in Salt Lake City, Utah; Command Judge Advocate for the Army Reserve Medical Command’s Central Medical Area Readiness Group (CEMARSG), Fort Sheridan, Illinois; Deputy Commander of the 2nd LOD, New Orleans, Louisiana; Team Leader of the Houston Team, 1st LOD (Texas); Deputy Team Leader of the Austin Team, 1st Legal Services Organization (Texas); Assistant General Counsel at the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), Office of General Counsel, in Dallas, Texas; and his first Army Reserve assignment was as a Training Officer at the U S. Army Trial Defense Service, Defense Counsel Assistance Program (DCAP), in Arlington, Virginia. In August of 2020, he assumed his current role as the Staff Judge Advocate for the 377th Theater Sustainment Command in New Orleans, Louisiana. In his civilian capacity, COL Sullivan serves as the Chief of Acquisition, Personnel and Ethics Law for the U.S. Army Futures Command (AFC), in Austin, Texas.
 
Colonel Sullivan’s military awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, The Army Meritorious Service Medal (with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters), and the Army Commendation Medal (with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters). COL Sullivan is an Adjunct Professor on topics in government contracts law for The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A & M University in College Station, TX. In 1993, COL Sullivan graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Information Systems from Howard University, where he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant and designated a Distinguished Military Graduate. He attended The University of Kansas School of Law and graduated with a Juris Doctor Degree in 1996. COL Sullivan also holds a Masters in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College. He is a member of the Bars of Kansas and Texas and is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, and the United States Supreme Court.
