The Plans, Programs, and Policies (P3) office serves as a dynamic hub where force management, promotions, strategic initiatives, recruiting and retention incentives, and policy alignment converge to shape the future of our JAG Corps.
Force Management:
P3 plays a pivotal role in coordinating and implementing force management strategies. This involves assessing organizational personnel requirements, optimizing workforce distribution, and ensuring readiness across the JALS.
Promotions:
At the direction of TJAG, the P3 office collaborates with the Army’s Human Resources Command (HRC) and G1 to establish JAGC specific promotion zones and boards, reviews promotion eligibility criteria, and ensures a fair and effective promotion process.
Strategic Initiatives:
P3 actively engages in shaping the JAG Corps’ future through strategic initiatives. These initiatives encompass long-term planning, resource allocation, data collection and analysis, synchronization with DoD and Army policy and regulation, and alignment with JALS organizational goals.
Recruiting and Retention Incentives Program:
The P3 Office collects and analyzes multiple data points to understand what makes people join and stay in the JALS. Working in conjunction with organizations across the Army, including JARO, ODEI, TJAGLCS, Army G1, HRC, and CHRA, P3 develops, and administers incentive programs consistent with Army policy to recruit, retain and motivate JALS personnel. These programs include:
Student Loan Repayment Program (SLRP); Judge Advocate Officer Retention Bonus (JAORB); Bar Dues Reimbursement; Career Intermission Program (CIP); Spouse Hiring Program; Army Blended Retirement System Continuation Pay Program; and the Funded Legal Education Program.
Through these incentive programs, the JALS recruits and retains talented personnel and fosters personal and professional growth for its personnel.
Policy Updates:
The P3 Office monitors DoD an Army policy changes and disseminates updates, to ensure compliance. P3 develops and recommends to TJAG specific JALS policies for the JALS to promote an effective well-informed and resilient legal team.
