On 28 August 2026, at a general court-martial convened at Camp Humphreys, Republic of Korea, SPC Derek T. Linebarger, III, U.S. Army, was convicted by a military judge, pursuant to his pleas, of two specifications of assault consummated by a battery in violation of Article 128, UCMJ.  Contrary to his pleas, the accused was convicted by a military panel composed officers and enlisted members of one specification of assault consummated by a battery in violation of Article 128, UCMJ.  The military judge sentenced the accused to be reduced to E-2, forfeit $1,000 pay per month for 6 months and confined for 6 months.
