On 12 December 2025, at a general court-martial convened at Fort Irwin, CA, SSG Luis E. Tapia, U.S. Army, was convicted by a military judge, pursuant to his pleas, of one specification of extramarital sexual conduct in violation of Article 134, UCMJ. Contrary to his pleas, the accused was convicted by a military panel composed of officers and enlisted members of one specification of rape, one specification of domestic violence, one specification of willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer, one specification of willfully disobeying a noncommissioned officer, and one specification of false official statement. The accused was acquitted of three specifications of domestic violence, one specification of willfully disobeying a superior commissioned officer, and one specification of larceny in violation of Articles 128b, 90, and 121, UCMJ. The members sentenced the accused to be reduced to E-1, to forfeit all pay and allowances, to be confined for 5 years, and to be discharged from the service with a dishonorable discharge.
