The 2024 American Legion Spirit of Service Award recognizes an enlisted member, E-5 and below, from each branch of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Space Force, and the National Guard Bureau) for outstanding military performance and volunteer service that he/she performs off-duty in a local community. Members of the Reserve Components are eligible for the award if recommended by his or her branch of service.

Each awardee will receive the American Legion’s Spirit of Service Award from the National Commander at the Annual National Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana, 27 August 2024. Travel and lodging expenses within the continental United States will be provided for each recipient by the American Legion.

The main criteria for consideration of the American Legion’s Spirit of Service Award should be the level of volunteer community service, such as coaching, working with kids, feeding the hungry, or volunteer service that the enlisted Soldier performs off-duty in a local community. The period of consideration for this award is from 1 January 2023 to 31 December 2023.
