It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Colonel (Retired) Alfred (“Mike”) A. McNamee. COL McNamee died on 10 October 2011, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 80 years old.

It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Colonel (Retired) Alfred (“Mike”) A. McNamee. COL McNamee died on 10 October 2011, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 80 years old.
COL McNamee began his Army career in 1949 as an enlisted Soldier and later served as an infantry officer. He received his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida in 1958 and earned his law degree from Wake Forest University in 1961. As an infantry officer, COL McNamee served in the 82d Airborne Division, 5th Infantry Division, and 10th Special Forces Group. In 1962, he transferred to the JAG Corps and went to the 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Kentucky for his first assignment as a Judge Advocate. In 1964-1965, as a Captain, he served in Vietnam in the Army component command headquarters. Other assignments throughout his distinguished career as a Judge Advocate include Staff Judge Advocate, 5th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado; and Deputy Staff Judge Advocate and Staff Judge Advocate, US Army Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky. Following his retirement from the Army in 1978, COL McNamee worked in the Florida State Attorney’s office and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Department.
COL McNamee will be deeply missed by many. He is survived by two sons, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
