Members of U.S. Army Recruiting Command and U.S. Army Cadet Command and Fort Knox OSJA's stand at the site marking the Defense of Parsons' Ridge at Perryville Battlefield, sometimes referred to as the "Gettysburg of the West".  Union victory at the Battle of Perryville on October 8, 1862 marked the end of the Confederate Heartland Offensive, and settled control of Kentucky for the remainder of the Civil War.
