1st Advanced Appropriations & Acquisitions Law Course

(5F-F103 Advanced Contract Law Course)

PURPOSE: The Advanced Appropriations & Acquisitions Law Course (formerly Advanced Contract Law Course (5F-F103)) provides advanced instruction on specialized fiscal law and acquisition topics. This course is for non-supervisory contract and fiscal law attorneys with over two years of contract and/or fiscal law experience. The course addresses various topics, which vary with each course. This course typically includes selected classes from the previous Government Contract and Fiscal Law New Developments Course (5F-511) and other advanced contract and fiscal law topics.

This year’s course will feature one day focused on contract law topics, including source selection, FAR Part 8, and intellectual property disputes. The following day will focus on fiscal law topics, including appropriation law interpretation, security cooperation, funding IT acquisitions, and fiscal law implications with working capital funds. The final day will focus on new developments in policy and law, innovation efforts, and electives. Course dates are 22-24 April 2025.

Prerequisites: Military or civilian attorneys employed by the U.S. Government. Attendees must have successfully completed the Contract Attorneys Course (5F-F10), and/or the Fiscal Law Course (5F-F12), or equivalent training and have at least two years of experience as a contract and/or fiscal law attorney or equivalent. 

Location: This course will return to in-person instruction at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center & School, Charlottesville, Virginia. All attendees must provide their own computer or digital device (e.g., laptop, tablet, etc.) capable of accessing JAG University.
