It is with deep sadness that I inform you of the death of Sergeant First Class Leonard H. Robins. SFC Robins died unexpectedly on 28 December 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. He was 55 years old.
SFC Robins was the NCOIC for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division and had returned from a 12-month deployment to Iraq in June. SFC Robins began his military career over 30 years ago when he enlisted in the Marine Corps for four years immediately after graduating from high school. In 1991, SFC Robins re-entered the military when he joined the Army as a legal specialist. Throughout his Army career, he served in a variety of locations; including, Fort Campbell, Kentucky; Camp Casey, Korea; and Wiesbaden, Germany. SFC Robins deployed to Iraq three times.
SFC Robins was born in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 1978, he graduated from Jefferson High School in New Orleans. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Phoenix.
SFC Robins was a devoted and much-loved husband and father. He is survived by his wife, Helena; their children, Jacob, Zariah, Malachi, and Caleb; and four children from his previous marriage, Tamekia Landry, Amiette Rouse, Cody Crosby, and Christopher Watkins.
A viewing will be held at 0830 on Saturday, 7 January 2012 at White Dove Fellowship Church, 3600 Manhattan Boulevard, Harvey, Louisiana 70058. Family and friends are invited to the funeral service at 1000 at White Dove Fellowship Church. Interment will immediately follow the service at Rest Lawn Cemetery, Avondale, Louisiana 70094. Flowers may be sent to the White Dove Fellowship Church at the address above.
