Welcome to the Operational Law Branch

The Operational Law Branch is responsible for providing advice to the field and the Army Staff on a variety of legal issues affecting the planning and execution of military operations, including:

• Detention Operations
• Rules of Engagement and Rules for the Use of Force
• Defense Support to Civil Authorities
• Weapons of Mass Destruction
• Other issues

We also monitor current operations via a support cell in the Army Operations Center and coordinate OTJAG's role in the Army Continuity of Operations (COOP) plan.
