General: The 22nd Ethics Counselor Course is scheduled for Monday, 13 January 2025 to Friday, 17 January 2025.
This course is a basic introductory ethics course for Department of Defense military and civilian attorneys who are newly appointed as ethics officials, pending appointment as ethics counselors, or those who have been recently re-designated to provide ethics advice.
Topics include: ethics counselor fundamentals; conflicts of interest; financial disclosure reports; gifts; political activities; relations with non-federal entities; travel and transportation rules; social media policy and post-government employment restrictions. This course is attended BY INVITATION ONLY. The ATRRS Course Number is 5F-F202. Please contact your SJA (AC), MSC JA (USAR), or State JA (NG) if you believe you should attend. Prospective USAF, USN, USMC and USCG, please contact your respective Service representatives to attend.
You will be required to provide the name and contact information for your supervisor who is nominating you to attend the course. Supervisors may be required to provide an order of merit list if more than one attorney from any unit or organization applies to attend the course. Prospective students should complete the application form on the website under “Invitation Only Courses Open for Application.” All applications must be submitted NLT 15 November 2024. Approved applicants will be notified by 25 November 2024 and will be given the information necessary to complete enrollment. If you have questions as to whether you were selected, please do not contact TJAGLCS until after 25 November 2024.

Prerequisites: This course is designed for those individuals who provide ethics advice as a substantial part of their duties and are newly appointed ethics officials, or those pending appointment. Supervisory military and civilian paralegals performing significant duties in this area of the law are also eligible to attend. Applicants who have attended this course, or any other DoD Ethics Counselor Course, in the last thirty-six (36) months are ineligible to attend.
