This week marks the end of Ms. Rebecca Ausprung's extraordinary service as the Director of Civil Law & Litigation for the U.S. Army Legal Services Agency (USALSA), and brings a close to her 25 years of distinguished service to the U.S. Army. We truly appreciate her compassionate leadership, sage counsel, and wise stewardship of the JAG Corps litigation enterprise. She will truly be missed. Though her time with us is ending, the positive impact of her legacy will be felt for years to come.

Ms. Ausprung joined the JAG Corps as an active duty judge advocate in 1999, serving in military justice positions around the world, including Germany and Iraq. After promotion below the zone to major, Ms. Ausprung was hand-selected to serve as a Trial Attorney at the Military Personnel Branch, USALSA. Ms. Ausprung found a home at USALSA-and never left. Although Ms. Ausprung transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve in 2007 and began working as a civilian attorney at USALSA, she was immediately called back to active duty to represent the U.S. Army in high profile cases. Ms. Ausprung continued building a legacy of legal excellence and leadership at USALSA in various positions, including Chief of the Civilian Personnel Litigation Branch. In 2018, Ms. Ausprung was promoted to Director, Civil Law & Litigation, USALSA. In this role she became one of the four Civilian Senior Executives in the Army JAG Corps leadership.

Ms. Ausprung's positive impact on the Army JAG Corps has been immeasurable. Based on her proactive litigation approach and vigorous litigation philosophy, she guided our litigators in advocating on behalf of the Army in thousands of legal cases. Ms. Ausprung led our civil litigators in advising Army senior leaders on the most complex and important strategic legal issues. Throughout her service, Ms. Ausprung has had an immeasurable impact as a coach, mentor, and irrepressible champion for her team.

As Ms. Ausprung's exceptional service to our Army comes to a close, she will continue to serve our nation as the Deputy Vice Chairman and Veteran's Law Judge on the Board of Veterans Appeals. Ms. Ausprung will forever be a part of our JAG Corps family and we wish her, her husband, and her two children the very best in everything to come.
