NOTICE OF PASSING – Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Peter A. Garcia
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of LTC(R) Peter A Garcia of Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey. LTC Garcia passed away at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was 60 years old.
NOTICE OF PASSING – Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Peter A. Garcia
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of LTC(R) Peter A Garcia of Mt. Ephraim, New Jersey. LTC Garcia passed away at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. He was 60 years old.
LTC Garcia was a graduate of Rutgers University and received a J.D. degree from Widener University Law School. He served 29 years in the U.S. Army as a Judge Advocate, rising to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Peter was a combat veteran, serving multiple tours in Afghanistan. He received recognition and many awards through the years, including two Bronze Stars.
After retirement, LTC Garcia was a cyber law attorney for the Department of Defense. As a civilian attorney, he practiced in both the private and public sector. He was an Assistant Counsel to Governor Florio and was appointed as the Acting Public Defender for New Jersey. He also worked for several years as a Deputy Attorney General.
LTC Garcia took great pride in the accomplishments of his family and was supportive of their goals. A devoted brother and friend, he was always willing to lend a hand. He loved people, leaving behind a rich group of friends. Peter was a tremendous cook, enjoyed his wine and cigars, and spent many afternoons at the shooting range where he was an excellent marksman.
He is survived by his wife, Dianne (nee Moratti), his son, Jacob, and daughter, Isabella. He is the son of Cecilia (nee Floraison) and the late Orlando Garcia. He also leaves his brother, Steven and his wife, Sue.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Visitation on Monday, August 16, 2021 from 5:00 - 6:45 p.m. at St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, 4th Avenue and Kings Highway, Haddon Heights, NJ, followed by Mass at 7:00 p.m. Internment will occur at a future date in Arlington National Cemetery.
