MEMORIAL CEREMONY – LIEUTENANT COLONEL CHRISTINA “CHRISSY” EKMAN, U.S. ARMY, Retired
The interment ceremony for Lieutenant Colonel (R) Christina “Chrissy” Ekman will be at Arlington National Cemetery at 1100 on 15 August 2018. A service will be held at the Fort Myer Chapel at 1100, prior to military honors at the cemetery. A brief reception will follow at the Fort Myer Officer Club.
Announcement of Death - Lieutenant Colonel Christina "Chrissy" Ekman, Retired
It is with deep sadness that I inform you that Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Christina “Chrissy” Ekman passed away on March 7, 2018. She was 52.
After graduating from James Madison University (ROTC) in 1987, LTC Ekman attended the Transportation Basic Course. She began her Army career as a Logistics and Motor Pool officer at SHAPE in Belgium. She then served as an Installation Transportation Officer, Adjutant, and Battalion S-1. LTC Ekman was selected for the Funded Legal Education Program and attended Seattle University School of Law. She then served as the Aviation Brigade Trial Counsel at Camp Stanley, Korea. From there she became the Chief, Criminal Law and Chief of Claims at Fort Lee, VA. After the Graduate Course, LTC Ekman was selected to teach at the Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School, where she taught in the Criminal Law Department. LTC Ekman then was selected to attend the Command and General Staff College. She then became the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate at the U.S. Armor Center and Fort Knox. Her final assignment was as the Chief, Judge Advocate Recruiting Office. LTC Ekman retired in 2008.
LTC Ekman is survived by her husband of 18 years, COL Andrew J. Glass, and her son, William Michael Ekman Glass, 13, along with her parents COL (Retired) Michael E. Ekman and Katherine “Ann” H. Ekman, sisters Patricia “Patty” E. Dokken (Tim), Katherine “Katie” E. Hines (Matt), and brother, Thomas “Tom” M.W. Ekman (Kristin).
Visitation for LTC Ekman will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 16 at Bliley’s Funeral Home, 6900 Hull Street Road, Richmond, VA. Her funeral will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church, 7757 Chippenham Pkwy, Richmond, VA, with Pastor Fred Marcoux officiating.

LTC Ekman will be interned at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
