NOTICE OF PASSING – STAFF SERGEANT TRAVIS JACKSON BECK
 
It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of SSG Travis J. Beck of Centreville, VA. SSG Beck passed away on October 10, 2022. He was 40 years old.
 
Travis Jackson Beck was born on May 26, 1982, in Dekalb County, GA, to parents Ken and Patty Beck. He graduated from Brookwood High School in Gwinnett County, GA. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2006, serving on active duty for 10 years, before he transitioned into the U.S. Army Reserves in 2016. After leaving active duty, SSG Beck worked for a civil rights law firm, Relman Colfax PLLC, from 2017 until his passing. He was a selfless man, passionate about fighting against injustice. His family was his pride and joy, and he cherished being a husband and a father. He was a lifelong Atlanta Braves fan, proposing to his wife at a Braves game.
 
SSG Beck’s previous military assignments include the 707th Military Intelligence Battalion Detachment, Fort Gordon, GA; the 706th Military Intelligence Group, Fort Gordon, GA; Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 15th Signal Brigade, Fort Gordon, GA; United States Army Defense Legal Services Agency, Pentagon, VA; and the 151st Legal Operations Detachment, Alexandria, VA. His military awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Achievement Medal (1 Oak Leaf Cluster), National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Medal Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (Second Award), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal with Campaign Star.
 
SSG Beck is survived by his wife of nine years, Tracy Beck; his children Iain, Echoe, and Madelyn; his father and stepmother, Ken and Karen Beck; and his brother and sister-in-law, Justin and Lindsey Beck. He is preceded in death by his mother, Patty Beck.
 
A funeral service for SSG Beck is scheduled for 11am on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA.
