Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service - Coral Pietsch
The Honorable Coral W. Pietsch, was awarded the Decoration for Exceptional Civilian Service on 21 September. Lieutenant General Wiercinski, US Army, Pacific, Commanding General presented the award on behalf of the Secretary of the Army, Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Mrs. Pietsch started her career as an active duty Judge Advocate in Hawaii, and later rose to the rank of Brigadier General in the US Army Reserve (the first female General in the JAG Corps and first Asian-Pacific female General in the Army). In her civilian service, she was the USARPAC Special Assistant to the SJA and Senior Civilian Attorney in the Pacific. She was appointed by the President as a Federal Judge for the Department of Veteran's Affairs in Washington DC.
