Michael Gold CJTF-101 and CPT Justin Nottingham Task Force Falcon ran the Boston Marathon Shadow Run Bagram Airfield

What better way to start a morning in Afghanistan than running 26.2 miles at 4,895 feet? CPT Michael Gold CJTF-101 and CPT Justin Nottingham Task Force Falcon ran the Boston Marathon Shadow Run Bagram Airfield on 16 April 2011. A controlled detonation started a three lap race around the airfield at 0300. Fighter jets took off against a crisp mountain sunrise as approximately 350 runners pounded along dusty roads. CPT Gold finished the marathon in 4:04 and CPT Nottingham finished in 4:07.
