The first female lawyer in the JAG Corps was CPT Phyllis Propp Fowle, who transferred from the Women's Army Corps to the JAG Department in 1944. She also was the first female Post Judge Advocate, first (and only) female Judge Advocate to serve overseas in combat (France) and receive overseas stripes, and the first female Judge Advocate to earn a combat patch. Propp Fowle remained in the Army Reserve after World War II and retired as a LTC. ** In Celebration of Women’s History Month**
