COL Jim Heaton (USAR), SJA of the Military Intelligence Readiness Command at Fort Belvoir, VA salutes a fallen soldier at Arlington National Cemetery. The fallen soldier, SPC Jordan Schumann, 527th MP Co in Hohenfels, Germany served in Afghanistan with COL Heaton’s son-in-law. SPC Schumann was killed in action on 5 July 2011, and was interred at Arlington on 9 August 2011 with full military honors. SPC Schumann’s wife Sarah, a close friend of COL Heaton’s daughter, recently gave birth to the couple’s only child and was unable to travel to visit her husband and fallen hero on his birthday. The Heatons were honored to visit SPC Schumann’s grave site at his wife Sarah's request.
