On 22 October 2021, members of the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk visited Fort St. Jean Baptiste State Historic Site. Fort St. Jean Baptiste was established in 1716, by Sieur Charles Claude Dutisn and was named after a French patron saint Fort St. Jean Baptiste Des Natchitoches. The fort served as a military outpost and commercial trade center until 1762, when France’s defeat by England.
