It is with deep sadness that we inform you of the passing of Major (Retired) Mark Patrick Richardson of Princeton, Minnesota. MAJ (Ret) Richardson passed away on June 2, 2023. He was 60 years old.
Mark Patrick Richardson was born on June 27, 1962, to Roy and Bonnie (Johnson) Richardson, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force prior to joining the Minnesota Army National Guard in 2008 as a Judge Advocate. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Saint Cloud State University in 1993, his Master of Education degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota in 1998, and his Juris Doctor from William Mitchell College of Law in 2008.
MAJ (Ret) Richardson’s military assignments include Assistant Judge Advocate, 347th Regional Support Group, Roseville, Minnesota; Admin and Civil Law Attorney, 34th Infantry Division, Rosemount, Minnesota; Defense Counsel, 233d Judge Advocate General Detachment Trial Defense Team, St. Paul, Minnesota; Intelligence Law Officer, Combat Aviation Brigade, St. Paul, Minnesota; Operational Law Attorney, 34th Infantry Division, Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota; and Intelligence Law Officer, 34th Infantry Division, Rosemount, Minnesota.
MAJ (Ret) Richardson is survived by his wife, Mary; daughters, Lara (Nicholas) Torison and Sonja Richardson; mother, Bonnie Johnson; brothers and sisters, Glen (Valerie) Richardson, Joanne Richardson, Beth Richardson, Tracy Richardson, and Jon (Amy) Richardson. Mark was preceded in death by his father, Roy Richardson; and nephew, Greg Rundell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Minnesota GUMI (Glad U Made It) Camp USA, 23315 Beroun Crossing Rd., Hinckley, MN, 55037. This organization supports Minnesota Veterans.
Memorial Services will be at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the Princeton High School Performing Arts Center, 807 8th Avenue S, Princeton, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM prior to the service at the high school in Princeton. MAJ (Ret) Richardson will be buried at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls, Minnesota.
