On 20 September 2024, at a general court-martial convened at Fort Stewart, GA, SPC Kyle P. Gary, U.S. Army, was convicted by a military judge, pursuant to his pleas, of one specification of desertion, one specification of absence without leave, two specifications of sexual assault of a child, one specification of sexual abuse of a child, one specification of possession of child pornography, and one specification of attempted transportation of a minor with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity in violation of Articles 85, 86, 120b, and 134, UCMJ. The military judge sentenced the accused to be confined for 36 months and to be discharged from the service with a dishonorable discharge. The sentence was consistent with the terms of a plea agreement.
